2021 State Championship at Mill Creek
The IMTT wrapped up its season today with 2021 State Championship Tournament on Mill Creek Lake. For most of the anglers, this was their first time on that body of water.
Saturday’s mostly cloudy forecast turned into mostly sunny for a good portion of the fishing hours. There were three fish that hit the bump board on Saturday.
Sunday was not a complete wash out, but the rain lasted most of the day, picking up to pretty heavy at times, and even delayed the start of fishing by 30 minutes. As Sunday’s fishing hours wrapped up, we were met with clearing skies and sun. There was one fish landed on Sunday, and it turned out to be the tournament winner.
State Champions – Garry Handlin (43.25″) & Bob Taylor. Garry also won Big Fish for the tournament.
State Runner-up – Phil Gutmann (40.5″) & Ron Haynes
3rd Place – James Dingus (38.5″) & Jim Beaty
Other fish – Robert Unzicker (32″)
The IMTT also closed out the year with the awarding of our Big Fish of the Year, Angler of the Year, Runner-up Angler of the Year, and Team of the Year.
The 2021 Big Fish of the Year, and a $250 Bass Pro gift card went to Duane Landmeier for his 46.75″ caught at the Fall Classic on Prairie Lake
The 2021 Angler of the Year, with a total of 86.75 points, went to Phil Gutmann
The 2021 Runner-up Angler of the Year, with a total of 60 point, went to Robert Unzicker
The 2021 Team of the Year was a tight race, and the top two teams both registered a fish at the championship. Edging out the second place Team by six points, the award went to the team of Phil Gutmann & Ron Haynes.
We want to give a huge thank you to our participants for their generosity in donating 418 food items to the Clark County Food Pantry. You guys are awesome, thank you so much.
We very much look forward to the 2022 season. If you missed out on the fishing and camaraderie, come on out in 2022 and hit the water with us. All are welcome.
