2020 State Championship @ Prairie Lake
The IMTT season concluded this past weekend with the 2020 State Championship Tournament on Prairie Lake. Sixteen anglers were faced with the challenge of trying to find a fish willing to bite following a massive cold front that passed through on Friday morning, with a 24 hour temperature drop of 40 degrees from Thursday to Friday. One angler was able to pin a big fish Friday afternoon after the storms moved out of the area. Once the front was fully past, fishing became quite difficult. There were several fish contacted, but the majority of those were little guys, and most of them were not interested in biting. On Saturday, there were two boats that managed to get a legal fish in to their boats. There were no legal fish caught on Sunday.
It was definitely a tough State Championship tournament, and that is a hand that late October can deal any angler this time of the year. Regardless of the cold and challenging weekend, it was great to get caught up with fellow IMTT members, have our normal dinner, raffle and food drive, and to collect some input for the 2021 IMTT season.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the IMTT not only awarded the winners of the tournament, but we were also able to hand out our end of the year awards. All winners are listed below.
We were able to collect and donate over 330 food items to the Menard County Food Pantry with our Saturday evening dinner & raffle. We thank all participants that donated for our food drive.
Sometime in the next several weeks, the IMTT will hold its annual Board meeting. We would like to extend an invitation to anyone that may be interested in getting involved with the IMTT board to join us. We want to extend a huge thank you to all of the participants that fished with us during the 2020 IMTT season. There were a number of external factors that made this a challenging year, and we ended up losing two of our scheduled tournaments. We are hopeful that we will be able to hold all of our 2021 events. We invite anyone checking out our end of the year results to come out and join us for at least one 2021 event.
